We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across Gigiddy. While we're a small team and can't guarantee full conformance at all times, accessibility is an ongoing priority and we actively work to improve it.
- Semantic HTML throughout (headings, landmarks, lists, forms with labels).
- Alt text on all meaningful images; decorative images marked with
aria-hidden. - Keyboard-navigable interface including popups and interactive elements.
- Sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive elements.
- Responsive design that works across screen sizes and zoom levels.
- No auto-playing audio or video.
- Voice input as an alternative to typing: artists can add a gig by speaking it aloud rather than filling in the form. It is always optional, every field it fills stays editable, and nothing publishes until you confirm it.
- Landmarks (
<nav>,<main>) on every page so screen reader users can jump between regions.
- Third-party embeds (Spotify, YouTube) are controlled by their respective providers and may have their own accessibility limitations.
- Map-based features rely on third-party mapping services, which have their own accessibility characteristics.
- Some older parts of the admin interface may not fully meet our standards yet.
- Speech recognition accuracy varies with accent, speech pattern and background noise, so voice input can mishear you. It is never the only route to a task — everything it fills in can be typed or corrected by hand before you publish.
- Voice input needs microphone permission and a browser that supports audio recording; where either is missing, the feature is simply unavailable and the normal form is used.
- We honour your device's reduced-motion setting for page scrolling and navigation transitions, but not yet for every animation on the site.
- There is no "skip to content" link yet — page landmarks are the current way to bypass the navigation.
We're working to address these over time.
If you find something on Gigiddy that's difficult to use, we'd like to hear about it so we can fix it.
Email us at support@gigiddy.co.uk with:
- The page or feature you had trouble with.
- What happened and what you expected.
- The device and browser you were using (if known).
We aim to respond within 5 working days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory Support Service (EASS).
